This film is about the son of a great kabuki actor, Shoko, who also dreams of becoming an actor. He receives a lot of flattery and praise from his family, but only the maid Toku dares to tell him that he is actually quite talentless. However, she encourages him not to give up. Shoko immediately falls for the sincere Toku, but the family looks on with less than kind eyes that their son is associating with a miserable maid.
